discuss the following statement “Software tools are seldom unsuccessful for technical reasons – the reasons why they fail to impact in the market are to do with human factors”.

I think most users of software would disagree
Software can fail for a number of reasons:
- bugs that were not anticipated – why they are called bugs lol
- interactions and conflicts with other software which were also not anticipated
- the computer industry changes daily; with so many different programmers writing different code for their programs, it is inevitable one or more programs have conflicts with each other.
- If software was not known to fail, there would be no reason for programmers to develop “fixes” for “known problems.”
Success vs failure in the marketplace not only have to do with users’ experience of the program itself or the software tools but also because:
- most users become comfortable and experienced with one set of tools and are disinterested or reluctant to try something new — like someone who has always eaten beef and has no desire to try lamb…or someone who has always driven one kind of car and “would never buy any other brand”
- small programmers or companies cannot compete with larger software companies like microsoft
- word-of-mouth of the errors, conflicts, annoyances, problems in new software — for example, Dell and Gateway computers told customers not to download Service Pack 2 for Windows because SP2 was causing so many headaches…
Usually new software takes 6 months or shorter for users to find & report bugs. The buggier the software, the quicker users complain. Six months is a lonnnnnng time in the computer world. Another company can step in with a new and better product. It takes time to fix bugs.
When you write your term paper, give me credit! LOL
Hope this helps
